This is the “golden competition”. Competitors have to run, swim and board, the fastest competitors wins.
The race works as follows:
All competitors line up at the beach, googles on, their boards are laid behind them in the sand.
The referee gives then the signal: “On your marks! Get set!”. With the whistle blow the race starts.
At this moment all competitors run into the water, may be they need to wade and to duck dive in order to come through some higher waves. Then, they swim a race course marked by some buoys, pass them and then the field heads back to the beach. The competitor run to their boards, each grabs his/her board and runs with the board back to the ocean. The race goes again round the buoys, before the race field can return back to the beach. Arrived at the beach, each competitor leaves his/her board at the beach, and starts the final sprint to the finishing line.
Believe us – this is a really tough race, probably 150m swimming, 100m sprint and 200m with the board.
